Happy Birthday, Werner Heisenberg

December 5, 1901 – February 1, 1976.
And yes, we’re fairly certain of that.

Werner Heisenberg gets pulled over one night as he’s driving home on the highway.

The patrolman walks up to the physicist’s rolled-down window and says to him, “Do you know how fast you were going?”

Heisenberg shakes his head.

“I have no idea, he says, but I can tell you exactly where I was.”

  1. Did they teach this in English class? Because I don't remember you taking much Physics ;-)

  2. This post did indeed stray well out of our regular area of expertise, and it took quite a bit of research to whip it into shape. Until just a couple of weeks ago, we were under the impression that a heisenberg was what sank the Titanic.

  3. Maybe that was the problem - the captain knew how fast he was going, he just didn't know where he was well enough to know there was an iceberg in front of him...
